TOPTICA isolators ensure stability of TOPTICA’s narrow linewidth, long coherence length lasers, and they can protect Watt-class lasers and amplifiers from damaging back reflections. TOPTICA can also offer custom form factors and wavelengths.

For more than twenty years, TOPTICA has offered narrow linewidth, single frequency, external cavity diode lasers. The spectrum and power of these lasers can be extremely sensitive to reflections from downstream optics, so it is critical that no light returns to the laser cavity. These stringent demands drove TOPTICA to develop its own line of single-stage (>35 dB) and double-stage (>60 dB) optical isolators.

TOPTICA’s product line of Faraday Optical Isolators are specially designed and manufactured in-house by the laser experts of TOPTICA to give industry leading performance in dual stage configurations. Dual stage models provide at least 60dB isolation and 80% transmission (> 67 dB and > 90% average) over individual wavelength ranges in total spanning 640 - 1100nm. All models are wavelength adjustable and can handle power densities up to 4kW/cm2. These are the same components already used by TOPTICA in the industry-leading DL pro, TA-SHG pro, and TA-FHG pro laser systems. The same superior isolators that make TOPTICA lasers the industry standard are now offered individually. Custom and OEM isolator requests are welcome.

Single-Stage TOPTICA Isolators: Tunable Single Stage Performance

Single stage devices provide at least 35 dB isolation and 85% transmission (> 43 dB and > 92% average) over individual wavelength ranges in total spanning 392.5 - 427.5 nm and 630-1400 nm.

All models are wavelength adjustable and can handle power densities up to 4 kW/cm2. These are the same components already used by TOPTICA in the industry-leading DL proTA-SHG pro, and TA-FHG pro laser systems. An optical isolator transmits light in one direction only, by rotating the polarization axis of linearly polarized light. This is achieved by means of a crystal placed within a magnetic field (Faraday effect). The isolator thus prevents unwanted feedback into the laser source, which would else affect the laser’s coherence, or even damage the diode itself. TOPTICA offers single-stage and double-stage models for a wide wavelength range.
