Lastek's Yabby is an all-solid-state optical pulse compressor that can reduce the pulse duration from common femtosecond Ytterbium lasers operating around 1030nm by factors of up to 6 with high efficiency. Yabby is optimised for pulse energies in the tens of microjoule range and uses a novel multi-pass cell containing a nonlinear element to chirp the input pulse so that it can then be compressed using dispersion- compensating mirrors. By employing high efficiency reflective or anti- reflective coatings on all optical components the overall transmission of the system is >90% with typically >90% of that energy contained in the compressed pulse.

•    Typically 325fs to 65fs, 5X compression ratio!
•    Unique patented multi-pass cell design.

At-a-glance:
Yabby is designed to compress pulses from industrial Yb fiber lasers producing 275 - 400fs pulses around 1030nm.

Features:
•    Compression ratio CR typically 5-6
•    Designed specifically for pulses containing 10’s µJ of energy
•    The Kerr nonlinearity of a glass plate contained in a novel multi-pass cell is used to chirp the input pulses
•    Separate chirped mirrors compress the pulse from the cell to near the time-bandwidth limit
•    No compressed gas required

Benefits
•    High transmission efficiency >90%
•    Typically, >90% of energy is contained in compressed pulse
•    Multiple configurations possible to allow for different input pulse energy
•    Compact, maintenance free design
•    Maintains pointing stability of the input laser
•    Beam quality of the output beam is close to that of the input laser

Applications:
•    Pump-probe studies
•    OPA pumping
•    Micromachining
•    Ultrafast excitation
•    Multi-photon imaging
