Abberior is pleased to announce its collaboration with Miltenyi Biotec to offer a custom conjugation of Abberior Dyes to primary antibodies from Miltenyi Biotec. Abberior offers fluorescent dyes and labels that are exceptionally well suited for superresolution microscopy such as STED, GSD, PALM, STORM, GSDIM, SIM, and RESOLFT. They also give outstanding results in confocal and epifluorescence microscopy as well as in single-molecule applications.  Now, in addition, customers can use the conjugation service offered by Miltenyi Biotec to get the primary antibody of choice coupled to any Abberior dye.

Gattaquant DNA nanotechnology featured in Nature

Nature recently published a Technology Feature about DNA nanotechnology including the big names of the field from Seeman to Rothemund, Shih, Douglas and many more. So we are very happy that GATTAquant – with the first commercial application of DNA origami worldwide – is mentioned amongst them, citing their CSO Max Scheible:

One popular adornment to nanostructured DNA is light-emitting materials called fluorophores. GATTAquant DNA Nanotechnologies in Braunschweig, Germany, for instance, makes nanorulers from DNA origami structures and fluorescent molecules to validate super-resolution microscopes. Super-resolution microscopy allows researchers to take images beyond the resolution limit set by the diffraction of light, but “there is no standard to measure the resolution of the system,” says Max Scheible, head of research and development at GATTAquant. “DNA nanotechnology really enabled this.”

GATTAquant attaches fluorescent molecules at precise distances on an origami structure and mounts them on glass slides. These nanoscale rulers allow researchers to verify the resolution of sub-diffraction-limit microscopes."

Being the first super-resolution microscopy technique the STED method revolutionized the light microscopy. With the nanorulers from the GATTA-STED series now adequate calibration probes are finally available. The single color nanorulers carry two fluorescent marks out of dense arrangements of the high quantum yield dye ATTO 647N. We offer the mark-to-mark distances in the sizes 50 nm, 70 nm, 90 nm and 120 nm. In addition we offer a new design containing three emitting points with two different fluorophores which allows the acquisition of very eye-catching images. Fluorescent beads are important microscopy tools which can be used for calibration of microscopes, particle tracking or quantitative determination of point spread functions especially in STED microscopy. Particularly for the last point a small structure size keeping a high brightness is an immense advantage. Products from the Gattaquant GATTA-Bead series fulfill this requirement perfectly with a diameter of only 23 nm. Additionally, they show a clearly improved homogeneity and flexibility compared to other beads.
