Raptor Photonics wins “Made in Northern Ireland” Award

Raptor Photonics has recently won a very prestigious accolade at the recent Made in Northern Ireland Awards, held on Friday 11 May in the historic Titanic Hotel. Raptor picked up top prize in the Manufacturing Innovation category for the company’s work in deep-cooled HD InGaAs cameras. The company will now go on to represent Northen Ireland at the UK finals in Liverpool in June 2018.

Laser Quantum: vChirp – online web optics software launched

Laser Quantum has just launched an in-browser version of vChirp, an easy-to-use online software to emulate dispersion and pulse compression calculations for ultrafast experiment design. vChirp has been designed in cooperation with the Institute of Quantum Optics at Leibniz Universität, Hannover to simplify the calculation process for dispersion characteristics of a femtosecond laser pulse propagating through various media and elements, as well as providing information on obtaining a re-compressed pulse. The software can also be used to generate Gaussian spectra and to plot overall dispersion curves (sum) along with theoretically achievable pulse duration. The vChirp software can be used with various optical elements including glass wedges for dispersion fine tuning, compensating mirror pairs, grating compressors and template pulses (like Gaussian or rectangular). vChirp will allow you to tweak your ultrafast set-up accordingly for optimal pulse recompression.
