Ocean Optics release new Calibration Sources

Ocean Optics spectrometer wavelength calibration sources are now available in configurations that span the UV to the NIR, with more convenient battery options, remote on/off, and LED indicators for battery charge and lamp activation.

The newer wavelength calibration source series (-2 models) includes mercury-argon (253-1700 nm), krypton (427-893 nm), neon (540-754 nm), argon (696-1704 nm) and xenon (986-1984 nm) gas-discharge emission sources.

With more emission lines to utilize, maintaining optimum spectrometer performance – for example, correcting for spectrometer baseline drift and related phenomena inherent to all spectrometers — is simpler to achieve.

Features:

  • Gas-discharge sources — produce atomic emission lines for performing reliable spectrometer wavelength calibration
  • UV-NIR coverage — choose from multiple sources across a broad range of wavelengths
  • Convenient operation — sources include 5 VDC power supply and embedded, rechargeable lithium ion battery
  • Built-In Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery – This feature provides the ultimate portability for these light sources, allowing over an hour of continuous use in the field.  In addition to the convenience of a having a built-in battery, rechargeable batteries are greener to manufacture and can last for hundreds of cycles over many years.
  • Remote Enable  - Each Wavelength Calibration Light Source can be remotely turned on/off with a low voltage signal (2.5-5V).  Ideal for users who wish to perform on-line calibrations or have a spectrometer and calibration source mounted in a difficult to access location (say on top of 30 foot tower in the middle of the forest).
  • Ruggedized Corrosion Resistant Aluminum Housing - Building on Ocean Optics reputation for high quality, these new light sources sport a high performance aluminum housing for both sturdiness in the field and provide a modern look and feel.
  • Improved Electronics – the electronics have been updated to provide the best possible performance for these wavelength calibration standards.
  • Improved Design: Low profile toggle switch in the front of the unit activates power to the bulb.
  • A locking power cable helps to ensure that power is not accidentally disrupted during a critical time in your calibration process.
  • Three different indicator lights in the front help users easily identify the state of the on board battery.
