Announcing: 2nd Workshop on Data Assimilation & CFD Processing for PIV and Lagrangian Particle Tracking

The "2nd Workshop on Data Assimilation & CFD Processing for PIV and Lagrangian Particle Tracking" will take place on December 13-14, 2017 in Delft, The Netherlands, sponsored by LaVision.

Many procedures are nowadays available that increase or enhance the information measured with Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) resp. Lagrangian Particle Tracking (LPT) or other flow measurement systems using techniques imported from the CFD and applied mathematics community. The advent of time-resolved and volumetric measurements have multiplied the possibilities with much excitement of PIV and PTV development researchers as well as from the applied fluid mechanics community. The methods range from regularization strategies using the (simplified) Navier-Stokes-equation or the use of the momentum equation to obtain pressure from velocity measurements, to variational data-assimilation frameworks using adjoint CFD solvers.

Following the success of the first workshop last year, many positives responses have been received to the organization of the second workshop and two keynote lecturers have been invited:

Prof. Dr. Peter Schmid, Imperial College, London: "Data assimilation and dynamic observers for data-based flow field recovery"

Dr. Dominique Heitz, IRSTEA, Rennes: "Coupling experimental and computational fluid dynamics: synopsis of approaches, issues and perspectives"
